Walter J. Donat

Retired

Walt was born and raised in Batavia, Illinois. He obtained his law degree from Valparaiso University School of Law in 1973 and began practicing law at Donat & Donat, P.C. until he joined the Army in 1974.

​Walt served four years in the Army JAG Corps on three continents -- first as a criminal defense counsel and then as a prosecutor. Walt rejoined Donat & Donat, P.C. in 1977 to practice law with his father, Anthony, and subsequently, his brother, Pete, and now his daughter, Kate.

​Walt specializes in Real Estate law and represents both buyers and sellers in residential real estate transactions. Additionally, Walt assists families in transition in his Estate Planning and Family Law practices.

​Walt and his wife, Barbara, have been married for over 40 years, and have four children and ten grandchildren. In their free time, Walt and Barbara enjoy spending time with their family and traveling in the United States and abroad.

​Walt has been admitted to practice before the Supreme Court of Illinois, the Supreme Court of Indiana, the Court of Military Appeals, the Federal Court for the Northern District of Illinois, and the United States Supreme Court.
